On October 3, 2024, in honor of the Day of the State Language of the Republic of Tajikistan, a grand festive meeting was held with the participation of the leadership of the National Bank of Tajikistan, the Deputy Chairman of the Language and Terminology Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and bank employees.
At the beginning of the meeting, Firdavs Tolibzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, congratulated the audience on the Day of the State Language. He called it a sacred and eternal symbol of the nation’s existence, the most important sign of national statehood, and a factor of unity for the people of Tajikistan.
The Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan spoke about the pride and special attention of the Founder of Peace and Unity – the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon – to the development and improvement of the state language. He emphasized the importance of language and literature studies, national history and culture, and strengthening the position of the Tajik language in official work and document preparation. The Chairman stated that the role of the Head of State in strengthening the country's cultural independence is extremely significant. He stressed that, following the Leader of the Nation’s example, every citizen should contribute to the development and improvement of the state language.
In turn, Deputy of the Language and Terminology Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Sakhidod Rahmatullozoda gave a report on the study of the history of the formation and development of the Tajik language and the continuous efforts of the government in this direction.
It was noted the Tajik language is recognized as one of the world’s oldest languages, and its antiquity is acknowledged globally. Despite facing numerous challenges throughout its millennia-long history, the Tajik language has remained relevant and has inspired scientific, literary, cultural, spiritual, political, and social activities across different historical periods. Since gaining independence, Tajikistan has been able to prioritize the issue of respecting its language, ensuring it a dignified status and promoting its development. This issue is now considered a crucial aspect of state policy by the Tajik Government, as language is seen as the passport of the nation and one of its most sacred elements.
Several members of the NBT Youth Council recited excerpts from the works and memoirs of world writers, celebrating the greatness of the Tajik language, in both Tajik and foreign languages before the participants.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda emphasized once again that knowledge of the state language by every individual signifies respect for the nation, its heritage, and its sovereignty. Today, thanks to state independence and the wise leadership of the Leader of the Nation, the Tajik language has its place on the world stage and is recognized as the official state language of the Republic of Tajikistan. We should always strive for enhancing, preserving the purity of and adhering to the norms of using our native language. As the Head of State stated, “the true owner and supporter of the Tajik language is the Tajik nation.'"
