Participation of the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan in the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group Spring Meetings
On April 18, 2024, the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan participated in the consultative meeting of the constituency countries of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group held in the field of Spring Meetings in Washington.
At the regular meeting of constituency countries, the issues of financial instability in the world, ensuring economic stability, monetary policy in view of geopolitical risks, improving medium-term development prospects, the impact of uncertainty and risks against the background of ongoing conflicts, as well as other important issues of global importance were discussed.
During his speech, Head of the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan - First Deputy Prime Minister Kholiqzoda H.H. mentioned the role of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in the economic and social development of Tajikistan and noted that the consultative meeting promoting the protection of the member—countries interests in terms of multilateral dialogue and study of the experience of the partnership of the constituency countries has a positive impact on the quality and prompt and important decision-making for the member countries of the Group.
The current difficult geopolitical situation cannot but affected the economic development of the countries of the region, international trade relations, financial and raw materials markets in the world. Given the high level of uncertainty, new ways to ensure the stability of the economy in the current and mid-term period have been found, and it is necessary to use the IMF funds as part of financing instruments.
The financial sectors of Central Asian region play an important role in maintaining policies aimed at climate protection in the region. Taking into account that the IMF's lending tools are constantly being improved to meet the changing needs of countries, the IMF's support in providing long-term affordable financing for climate change and ensuring sustainable development is considered appropriate, Kholiqzoda H.H. noted during the report.
Concluding his speech Kholiqzoda H.H. invited the audience to the meeting of the constituency of International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, which will be held in the Republic of Tajikistan from July 1 -3, 2024.
