The meeting addressed the impact of economic shocks and geopolitical risks on macroeconomic stability, fluctuations in global commodity and product prices—including oil, fuel, and food—and strategies for the effective implementation of monetary policy amidst global economic uncertainty. Participants also exchanged views on the potential influence of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, on economic growth, inflation, and the labor market.

During his remarks, the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan outlined the country’s experience in conducting monetary policy and maintaining macroeconomic stability while navigating the impact of external factors. Specifically, he highlighted how shifts in global prices, transportation and logistics costs, and the economic conditions of Tajikistan’s key trading partners affect the national economy.

It was emphasized that, in an environment of global economic uncertainty, assessing the nature and duration of economic shocks—as well as determining their impact on inflation—is crucial for making informed monetary policy decisions. In this context, the importance of conducting comprehensive economic analysis, monitoring potential risks, and maintaining flexibility in monetary policy was underscored.

During the meeting, the importance of ensuring transparency and effective communication between central banks and the public was underscored. It was also noted that providing timely explanations regarding monetary policy decisions—as well as the factors influencing those decisions—helps to strengthen the confidence of the public and economic agents in the policies pursued by central banks.
