Meeting with the representatives of the Japan - IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA)


On August 4, 2026, a meeting between Firdavs Tolibzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, and Takashi Nagaoka, IMF Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, and Saika Kin, IMF Regional Program Manager for Asia and the Pacific, representatives of the Japan - IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA) was held. The parties discussed expanding cooperation and developing the professional potential of specialists in the country's banking system.

The Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan first expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan, the International Monetary Fund, and the JISPA program for their continued support in developing human capital and strengthening public institutions in Tajikistan, noting that the Bank is at crucial stage of institutional transformation and is implementing key reforms to establish a modern and sustainable central bank. This process is aimed at strengthening the monetary policy system, improving banking regulation and supervision in accordance with international standards, developing macroeconomic and financial analysis, accelerating digitalization, strengthening institutional governance, and improving the risk management system.

At the meeting, it was noted that investing in human capital development is a key area of ​​institutional reform. In this context, the role of the JISPA program as a vital tool for developing professional potential was emphasized. The program provides its participants not only with the opportunity to obtain a high-quality academic education, but also with practical analytical skills, international experience, and a necessary professional network

The parties also discussed the need to further strengthen cooperation, attract more young and talented specialists from the National Bank of Tajikistan to participate in the JISPA program, and develop collaboration in the areas of leadership education, research, policy dialogue, and institutional capacity development. In conclusion, the parties expressed their readiness to expand mutually beneficial and long-term cooperation to develop human capital and strengthen Tajikistan's financial institutions.
