On June 18, 2026, the National Bank of Tajikistan hosted a training seminar on Islamic Insurance (Takaful). The seminar featured international experts from the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), led by Abdullo Harun, Deputy Secretary General of the Board.
The seminar was attended by specialists from the National Bank of Tajikistan, insurance organizations, credit financial institutions, audit firms, and other relevant ministries and agencies.
The event was opened by Sirojiddin Ikromi, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, who noted that the main goal of the seminar was to bring together stakeholders, present aspects of the Islamic insurance (takaful) system in the national insurance market, and enhance the professional skills of financial sector specialists.
It was noted that, amid the rapid global development of Islamic finance, studying and implementing advanced international practices in Islamic financial services - including Islamic insurance - that serve national and public interests is crucial for expanding the capabilities of the country's financial market and attracting a broader range of financial service users.
During the seminar, the Board’s international expert, Dr. Kartina Arrifin, delivered a presentation on Takaful: Concepts and Basic Structure. The presentation covered the essence and concept of Islamic insurance, modern global takaful models, regulatory requirements, and types of financing. In addition, it highlighted risk management, the prevention of uncertainties in financial transactions, and the differences between takaful and conventional insurance.
Participants were also informed about the benefits of the Takaful system for various segments of society, the precise allocation of funds and liabilities, the legal framework governing these activities, ways to expand public-private partnerships in the development of microtakaful, and other relevant issues in the sector. During the seminar, experts and attendees exchanged views, and those present received full and complete answers to their questions.
