On April 30, 2026, a virtual working meeting was held at the National Bank of Tajikistan as part of the second phase of the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Technical Assistance project. Sirojiddin Ikromi, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Paula Jones, Senior Advisor for Banking and Financial Services in the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Technical Assistance Office, Karina Toselli, international expert and representatives of the National Bank of Tajikistan have participated in the meeting.
During the meeting the issues of monitoring and analysis of progress were discussed, existing obstacles were examined, and solutions for their resolution to develop the country's insurance system were identified.
It was noted that effective bilateral cooperation has created a reliable foundation for development of the insurance sector and its basic infrastructure through the introduction of modern mechanisms for recording and regulating insurance operations, taking into account the Basic Principles of Insurance. In this context, the insurance supervisory authority of the Republic of Tajikistan is taking the necessary measures to align the system with international standards and strengthen regulatory and supervisory capacity.
Then, international expert Karina Toselli has analyzed the issues related to financial reporting of insurance institutions and provided practical recommendations for improving them and addressing existing problems.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan has stated that the implementation of intended plans for this project will continue until 2030, providing a reliable foundation for sustainable development and further improvement of the country's insurance system.
