On October 30, 2025, as part of the third review of the Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI) Program, Sirojiddin Ikromi, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, met with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan has expressed gratitude to the IMF delegation for their fruitful cooperation, technical and ongoing advisory support, and emphasized the importance of constructive collaboration with this reputable international institution in implementing structural reforms and strengthening macroeconomic stability. It was noted that the PCI Program plays a significant role in institutional development, enhancing trust in the financial system, and aligning national regulations with international standards.
The parties have also exchanged views on the results of the Policy Coordination Instrument Program, future plans under the Program, as well as reforms in the insurance sector, its achievements and development prospects, and the digitalization of the banking and insurance systems.
It was emphasized that the financial performance of insurance companies has improved in recent years, while the creation of modern infrastructure, legislative improvements, digitalization of insurance services, strengthening of corporate governance, and public outreach efforts continue.
At the same time, a number of reforms have been successfully implemented, including those aimed at improving the effectiveness of monetary policy, introducing a mechanism for averaging required reserves and its daily monitoring by credit institutions. Significant attention is also being paid to the development of digital services, strengthening the modern payment system infrastructure, implementing national RTGS and QR code platforms, and establishing a National Payment Integration Center.
The Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan has stated that all these initiatives and measures, including digitalization, development of payment infrastructure, improvement of the insurance system, and international technical cooperation, share a common goal and are aimed at strengthening a stable, transparent, and competitive financial system.
In conclusion, the parties have expressed confidence that fruitful cooperation between the National Bank of Tajikistan and the International Monetary Fund will contribute to the sustainable development of the country's financial system and economy.
