On August 22, 2025, the National Bank of Tajikistan hosted the Fourth Meeting of the Working team on formation of statistics in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT) and development of digital product exports with participation of heads and representatives of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Agency for Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Tax Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Communications Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the National Bank of Tajikistan.
According to the agenda of the meeting, participants have discussed and considered issues related to the import and export of ICT products, improving statistical registers, revising statistical sector codes, determining reporting deadlines, as well as preventing potential offenses in the field of information technology.
First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firuz Sharifzoda has noted in his speech: “Holding such meetings clearly demonstrates that the development of information and communication technologies and the development of digital product exports are of great importance for the economy and financial system of the country. The development of the digital economy can create new opportunities for strengthening the financial sector, exporting digital products and increasing the competitiveness of the national economy. The National Bank of Tajikistan fully supports these initiatives in the direction of developing the digital economy and exporting digital products and it is willing to cooperate with all government agencies in coordinating the information system, improving statistical accounting and developing unified reporting standards. Full coverage of all information and communication companies and individual entrepreneurs in the official registration system will ensure access to reliable and transparent information for making the right decisions.”
First Deputy Director of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H. Ismoilzod spoke about the work done in the field of innovation and digital technologies, noting that “continuing the joint work of the Working team with participation of government agencies will help create a reliable mechanism of accounting for statistical data in the field of ICT. This, in turn, will contribute to making the right decisions, planning further development and strengthening the digital economy of Tajikistan. The results of joint work will create a favorable basis for the sustainable development of the national economy and Tajikistan's entry into new stages of digitalization."
It should be noted that this Interdepartmental Working Team was established to implement the instructions of the Government of the country in the framework of declaring 2025-2030 as "Years of Digital Economy and Innovation Development " and generating statistics in the field of information and communication technologies, as well as increasing transparency, analyzing the real situation in the digital market, developing exports of digital products, strengthening the foundations for the development and implementation of state policy in the direction of ICT development. To date, the Interdepartmental Working Team has held three meetings, at which they have discussed issues of improving the procedure for registering ICT entities on the "Single window" principle, providing a list of existing enterprises in the industry and attracting local specialists, introducing a new form of statistical reporting and an automated program for its maintenance, the need for a pilot implementation of reporting in an online system with introduction of logical and arithmetic checks, as well as studying international experience, including the experience of Kazakhstan and Belarus in statistical reporting.
