Meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia


On February 20, 2025, Mr. Firdavs Tolibzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, met with Mr. Ilhom Tuah Ilyas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the Republic of Tajikistan. The discussion focused on enhancing bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Malaysia, particularly in the financial sectors of banking and insurance.

Both parties acknowledged the recent growth in trade and economic cooperation between the two nations and emphasized the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships.

Mr. Tolibzoda highlighted Tajikistan's commitment to encouraging foreign investment in its banking sector, including the establishment of subsidiaries, branches, and representative offices. He stressed that Tajikistan's legal framework is conducive to such investments. The Chairman also noted the increasing interest from credit institutions seeking licenses to operate in Tajikistan, including those specializing in Islamic banking.

The meeting addressed topics such as the implementation of international banking standards, strengthening the regulatory capacity of the National Bank of Tajikistan, and exploring the development of Islamic mortgages and takaful insurance.

Both parties expressed their commitment to fostering stronger trade and economic ties, advancing banking system development, and expanding the insurance market. They agreed that continued dialogue and collaboration would be instrumental in furthering cooperation between the financial sectors of both countries.
