Strengthening cooperation with Southeast Asian countries


On November 20, 2024, a delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, the State Committee for Investment and State Property Management, the National Bank of Tajikistan, and other government agencies, participated in the International Trade and Investment Forum in Singapore.

At this forum, representatives of the aforementioned ministries and departments met with leaders from Singapore's largest companies and representatives of the Enterprise 50 (E50) business network association to discuss investment opportunities in the Republic of Tajikistan.

First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Sharifzoda Firuz Homiddin, spoke during the forum about investment opportunities in the financial sector, banking, and insurance system of the Republic of Tajikistan. He provided specific answers to questions from entrepreneurs and investors regarding the state of the banking system and the profitability of the country's banking and insurance sectors.

In turn, representatives from other ministries and state committees of the Republic of Tajikistan also presented presentations on the investment potential in various sectors, including energy, minerals, finance, agriculture, tourism, digitalization, and the use of artificial intelligence.

During the event, it was noted that holding such forums contributes to attracting investment, establishing joint ventures, developing economic and trade cooperation, increasing export potential, importing modern technologies, and strengthening bilateral economic and investment cooperation.

On the same day, the delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan was received by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Singapore, Dr. Beh Swan Jin. During the conversation, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for mutual cooperation and attracting the business community of the Republic of Singapore to implement joint cooperation projects in various economic sectors.

A fruitful discussion also took place during the meeting on issues related to the banking system, particularly cooperation between the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the National Bank of Tajikistan.
