On November 14th of this year, the National Bank of Tajikistan held a formal ceremony to commemorate both President of the Republic of Tajikistan's Day and the 32nd anniversary of the XVI session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan. The event was attended by senior management and staff from the central office and regional branches of the NBT located in Khujand, Bokhtar, Khorog, Kulyab, and Garm (online).
Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Mr. Firdavs Tolibzoda, emphasized the significance of commemorating important national occasions. He drew upon Article 1 of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Holidays" to underscore the importance these dates hold for the nation. Mr. Tolibzoda asserted that the establishment of President's Day on November 16th is a testament to the President's commitment to upholding national policy, fostering peace and stability, promoting unity among the Tajik people, and elevating Tajikistan's standing in the international community. This recognition acknowledges the President's effective leadership and competence in these crucial areas. The Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan defines the President's role and the nature of the presidency. As such, this position, along with other emblems of national sovereignty, is recognized as a valuable national asset.
During its period of independence, Tajikistan witnessed strong public affirmation of faith in both the institution of the presidency and the individual holding that office. This resulted in widespread loyalty, respect, and, crucially, trust towards the Leader of the Nation.
In recognition of his pivotal role in restoring national sovereignty, fostering peace, and unifying the nation, the people of Tajikistan have bestowed upon President Emomali Rahmon the esteemed title of "Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation". This honor acknowledges his significant contributions to the country's development and well-being.
The establishment of a presidential system and the leadership of the Leader of the Nation have led to national prosperity. Four key strategic objectives - food security, ensuring energy independence, break in the communication deadlock, and accelerating industrial development – are direct results of the Head of State's initiatives.
The introduction of the somoni as Tajikistan's national currency was spearheaded by the Leader of the Nation, who provided direct support for its establishment. Today, the somoni is recognized as a stable currency within the Commonwealth of Independent States, based on its exchange rate performance, and serves as the primary medium of payment in Tajikistan. Mr. Tolibzoda attributes all advancements made by Tajikistan's banking system since independence to the guidance and astute leadership of the esteemed Leader of the Nation.
In commemoration of President of the Republic of Tajikistan's Day and the 32nd anniversary of the XVI session of the Supreme Council, specialists and representatives from the bank's youth and women's organization delivered speeches and recited poetry to honor these important occasions.
