On October 30, 2024, Ikromi Sirojiddin, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, met with Mr. Willy Kempel, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe. At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on developing practical cooperation in combating money laundering, the financing of terrorism, and the proliferation financing of weapons of mass destruction.
Sirojiddin Ikromi expressed satisfaction with the beneficial cooperation between the National Bank of Tajikistan and the OSCE Programme Office. He considered the organization’s contribution significant in strengthening the national system for combating money laundering, the financing of terrorism, and the proliferation financing of weapons of mass destruction.
It was noted that the evaluation of national risks related to combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and the proliferation financing of weapons of mass destruction within the country is an important focus area for the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe’s technical assistance and it is anticipated that its report on this issue will be approved at the next meeting of the OSCE Standing Inter-Agency Commission for combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and the proliferation financing of weapons of mass destruction.
Mr. Kempel highlighted actual global issues such as the impact of natural disasters, melting glaciers, and other concerns, in addition to risks related to combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. He considered the Republic of Tajikistan's initiatives timely.
The parties also exchanged views on other directions of cooperation, for realization of which the OSCE Programme Office expressed its readiness.
