Following the meeting, Kristalina Georgieva held a press-conference with a group of domestic and foreign journalists.

First, she thanked the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Tajik Government, and the Tajik people for their warm welcome and hospitality.
It was emphasized that the meeting addressed issues of effective cooperation between the International Monetary Fund and Tajikistan.

"At the meeting, we discussed a new Program of the International Monetary Fund for Tajikistan, which is aimed at supporting the continuation of reforms in the country, improving the financing environment, attracting investors, using budget funds for the development of social sectors and raising the standard of living of the people of Tajikistan," said the IMF Managing Director.

Further, Kristalina Georgieva stressed that this Program is being implementing when Tajikistan continues the construction of one of the important projects not only for the country, but also for the region - "Rogun Hydroelectric Power Station". This facility will become a source of "green energy" for the development of Tajikistan's business and people.

"We also discussed the prospect of increasing our cooperation in the future. I must state that the International Monetary Fund gives financial resources to its members through the preferential climate financing mechanism known as the "Sustainable Development Instrument" for a term of 20 years, with a 10-year grace period. "18 countries are taking advantage of this opportunity, and we are confident that we will connect Tajikistan as soon as possible," he said.

The IMF Managing Director also shared her impressions on Tajikistan's strong progress and excellent economic indices.

It was noted that economic development is more than 8%, and inflation is nearing 3%. In comparison to GDP, the public debt has dropped to 27 percent. Most importantly, the Tajik people are unified and work together for Tajikistan's development.

"I enjoyed Dushanbe very much. The city is incredibly gorgeous and lush. This place appears to have been designed for people's happiness and well-being. Once again, I would like to thank the Tajik people for their warm and genuine hospitality," said Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund.
