Consideration of projects financing with the World Bank Group

In the meeting of the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Managing Director of the World Bank for Operations Anna Bjerde held within the framework of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group Spring Meetings in Washington on April 18, the issues of financing projects, providing recommendations on economic policy and constant advisory support by this financial organization was discussed by the parties.    

During the meeting, the Tajik side noted the important role of development partners in ensuring the sustainable development of the Republic of Tajikistan and appreciated the World Bank's timely assistance to member countries as effective for stability and adaptation to the influence of external factors.

It was mentioned that in spite of the difficult and sensitive geopolitical situation, the important and main issue for the Republic of Tajikistan is to support the construction of the country's huge and strategic facility "Rogun Hydroelectric Power Station". It was emphasized that it was the initiative of the World Bank that led to the interest of a number of international financial organizations in the financing of the "Rogun Hydroelectric Power Station", and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan plans to continue attracting capital for the construction of the "Rogun Hydroelectric Station". In this regard, the World Bank, as an influential financial institution, was invited to finance the "Rogun Hydroelectric Power Station".

At this meeting, the delegation of Tajikistan was represented by Kholiqzoda H., First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan for Economic Issues Hikmatullozoda N. and Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan Qahhorzoda F.
