On August 26, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, continuing his visit to the Nurobod district, launched the most important facility in the Rasht Valley - Obi Garm-Nurobod highway.

The project is being implemented in continuation of the attention of the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, to improving the living conditions of the people and brings Tajikistan closer to the implementation of the strategic goal of overcoming the communication deadlock.

This route connects the capital with the administrative centers of the Nurobod, Rasht, Sangvor, Tojikobod and Lakhsh districts, expanding communication in all directions, including trade turnover between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and regional transit.

Driving along the previous route towards the districts of the Rasht Valley often caused drivers and passengers to encounter unpleasant incidents. In the spring and winter seasons, rockfalls, icing, landslides, and other dangerous situations were more frequent on these mountain roads and near long slopes.

The difficult condition of the road also posed serious obstacles to the development of the economic and social spheres in these regions.

The noble initiative of the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, to build a road that meets international requirements contributed to solving this problem.

The length of the road is 75 km, and the construction standards and regulations are included in the third technical level of roads, and its standard width is 12 meters.

In order to eliminate natural obstacles, three tunnels were built as part of the project.

The “35th Anniversary of Independence” tunnel in the Hakimi rural community with a length of 2605 meters, the “Vahdat” tunnel in the Lughur neighborhood with a length of 1700 meters, and the “Oriyono” tunnel in the Khavz ravine with a length of 1600 meters will shorten the road distance by 24 km, reducing fuel consumption and time loss. These three magnificent road and transport facilities are connected by communication lines, lighting and air purification networks, and in terms of quality and necessary facilities and infrastructure, they meet international road construction standards and requirements.

To prevent the risk of natural disasters to the life and health of drivers and passengers in the safe areas of the Kandak, Lughur, Sebnok neighborhoods, Hakimi and Mujikharf villages, Sebak, Tukhtor villages and other areas within the Rogun city and Nurobod district, 14 overpasses have been built.

The length of the bridges is about 1150 meters, ensuring uninterrupted transportation of goods and people.

The construction of reinforced concrete retaining walls, the installation of drainage pipes, and the strengthening of unstable slopes ensure the long-term use of the road, and rest areas with ornamental plants and trees will beautify this new road.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, expressed his gratitude to all the builders who contributed to the construction of the Obi Garm-Nurobod highway, and stated that the facility plays a significant role in the development of domestic and foreign trade, tourism, investment attraction, regional development, and in general, improving the quality of life of the people.
