Meeting of the delegations of the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Investment Bank in Washington

The current situation and prospects for the development of cooperation with the European Investment Bank were discussed at the meeting of the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan with President of the European Investment Bank, Ms. Nadia Calvino on April 17.

Kholiqzoda Hokim, Head of the delegation, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan congratulated Ms. Nadia Calvino on her appointment to this important post and appreciated the European Investment Bank for effective bilateral cooperation in the investment of national and international projects of the Republic of Tajikistan, including "CASA-1000", which is considered the largest energy project in Central Asia and South Asia.

Further, the participants of the meeting discussed the hydropower resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, attraction of investments in this sector, the European Investment Bank participation in the implementation of various projects important for the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan, including the strategic facility of the Republic of Tajikistan - "Rogun Hydroelectric Power Station".

The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan emphasized that significant works have been done to adjust construction standards in accordance with international ones, and the Government of Tajikistan continues to work with development partners in this regard to ensure the necessary funding to complete this project. Given the above, the European Investment Bank was invited to be one of Tajikistan's development partners in the implementation of this great project.

In this meeting, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan was accompanied by the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan for Economic Affairs Hikmatullozoda N., Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan Qahhorzoda F. and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan at the IMF and the World Bank Group Amirzoda P.
