Payment system of the Republic of Tajikistan
In general, throughout the Republic in 2023, more than 395.9 million payments worth 1 705.8 billion somoni were made through various payment methods (intra-bank, through direct correspondent relations and through correspondent accounts opened with the National Bank of Tajikistan). The number of payments compared to the same period last year increased by 46.8%, and the total volume of payments increased by 8.4%.
As of December 31, 2023, credit financial institutions opened 11.2 million bank accounts for clients, of which 11.1 million accounts belong to individuals, and 0.13 million accounts - to legal entities.
The number of customer bank accounts in credit financial institutions increased by 2.8 million or 33.1% compared to the same period last year, which indicates an increase in public confidence in the country's banking system.
