Meeting of Gulbahor Naziri with the delegation of the World Bank
On October 5, 2022, the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Gulbahor Naziri held a meeting with the delegation of the World Bank, during which the parties discussed the formation of a new model of the project "Tajikistan Digital Foundations" and improving its parts. Also during the discussion, the parties underlined the further initiatives of the World Bank and the National Bank of Tajikistan in order to implement the Concept of digital economy in the Republic of Tajikistan. From World Bank, Charles Hurpy, Senior Digital Development Specialist, Aneliya Muller, Digital Development Specialist, Nargis Podchoeva, Financial Sector Specialist, and Idibek Rakhimov, Program Assistant attended the meeting.
In the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan - Gulbahor Naziri greeted the representatives of the World Bank and expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation and assistance provided by this international financial organization in various sectors of the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan. She also noted that the implementation of this project is important for achieving the goals of the National Bank of Tajikistan in the field of digitalization of public services, banking and financial sectors, increasing non-cash transactions and improving public financial access.
Also during the meeting, the members of the World Bank delegation were introduced to several projects of the National Bank of Tajikistan, the implementation of which will have a positive impact on the development of financial digital services. The implementation of these projects will reinforce the work in this direction and ensure the provision of quality services, the stability of the banking system and financial stability in the country. Notably, the presented projects attracted the attention of the representatives of the World Bank and were approved by them.
Further, Charles Hurpy the Senior Digital Development Specialist and Aneliya Muller the Digital Development Specialist emphasized the continuous effective interactions with the National Bank of Tajikistan and noted that the work on the implementation of the project "Tajikistan Digital Foundation" is still ongoing. Until now, this project has been under consideration at meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan and other government agencies.
The project consists of three parts including the quality provision of public services, the full implementation of the digital economy as well as increasing the level of public digital financial literacy as well as among government officials.
The Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Gulbahor Naziri expressed her gratitude for the implementation of the project “Tajikistan Digital Foundation” and highlighted that the fruitful cooperation between the National Bank of Tajikistan and the World Bank will further contribute to the development of access networks to digital financial services, high-quality financial products, and raising the level of financial literacy.
In the conclusion of the meeting, Gulbahor Naziri noted the readiness of the National Bank of Tajikistan to continue mutually beneficial cooperation with the World Bank for the purpose of effective, high-quality and timely fulfillment of the tasks set in the implementation of the project "Tajikistan Digital Foundations ".
