Address of Hokim Kholiqzoda at the IMF Constituency Meeting

On July 4, 2022, in the framework of the IMF Annual Meetings, the main meeting of the IMF Constituency with participation of the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan was held.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Thomas Jordan, Chairman of Board of Directors and Governor of the Swiss National Bank, Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Ms. Anna Berde, Vice President of the World Bank. The Constituency Group and participants have discussed short-term and long-term factors and their impact on the global economy, financial system and trade, sustainable development, improving the welfare of the population. At the same time, they have discussed the impact of individual countries on the global economy, inflation expectations and ways to avoid economic risks.

The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan also has participated in the IMF Constituency Meeting, and Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan Kholiqzoda Hokim spoke about the economic situation and state of banking system. During the presentation on social and economic situation, current trends and measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to prevent the impact of potential risks on the national economy, an impact of external factors on financial stability and banking system, exchange rate fluctuations and currency risks were discussed. At the conclusion Hokim Kholiqzoda thanked the Constituency Group for the effective cooperation and support of the member -countries of the Constituency and has expressed the hope that this meeting will become a serious impetus for strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation.

The Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan once again invited the IMF Constituency Group to hold the Annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in 2026 in the Republic of Tajikistan.

In conclusion, the members of the IMF Constituency have congratulated the participants on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Constituency with the wishes of expanding and strengthening its activities.

It should be noted that the IMF Constituency is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. As a rule, the members of the Swiss Bretton Woods Constituency Group meet every two years in addition to the regular meetings of the IMF and World Bank governors in one of the member-countries. Along with Switzerland, this group includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
