Meeting with the mission of the "Infrastructure of the City for economic development" Project of the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID)
On September 12, 2017, First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan met with members of the mission of the "Infrastructure of the City for Economic Development" Project of the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) Mr. David Elliott, Private Sector Development Senior Specialist, Mr. Nicholas Miles, Head of the Economic Development and Ms. Zoe Green - Expert in urban infrastructure planning.
Issues of preparation of the Dushanbe Infrastructure Development Plan as "Smart City" were discussed during the meeting.
Mr. David Elliot, DFID Private Sector Development Senior Specialist stated that the City Infrastructure for Economic Development Program, supported by the UK Department for International Development, is aimed at the infrastructure and economic development of Dushanbe city.
In turn, Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev, First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, supported the development of the capital of the country as a "smart city" and noted such priority and urgent areas of financial development as the introduction of modern payment instruments and services, taking into account international best practices, use of innovative solutions in clearing settlements (including in points of sale and public transport), introduction and development of Internet banking and mobile banking, inclusion of measures for development of insurance services market, including insurance services in the social sector.
During the meeting, possibility of expanding of this project and involving in it the development of the infrastructure of other major cities of the Republic of Tajikistan was discussed.
In conclusion, it was noted that in perspective parties can use all existing opportunities for establishing fruitful cooperation.
