Monetary policy includes a process of controlling the money supply in economy, the liquidity level of banking system and the short-term interest rates of interbank market through the use of monetary policy instrumentsdirected primarily on achievement of price stability and promotingthe real economic growth.

The National Bank of Tajikistan as a central bank within the mandate provided forby the current legislationisresponsiblefor formulation and implementation of monetary policy of the state. In particular, in accordancewitharticle 5 of the Law on the National Bank of Tajikistan the primarygoal of the National Bank of Tajikistan is to achieve and maintain long-term price stability. The monetary policy tasks are, first and foremost, being implemented to achieve this goal.
